Alexander Aliev

Baritone Alexander Aliev was born in Arkhangelsk.

In 2008 he graduated from the Arkhangelsk Music College; in year 2013 he graduated from the Maimonides State Classical Academy, where he sang Mascagni’s Cavalleria Rusticana (Alfio), Massenet's Cendrillon (the King), Tchaikovsky's Eugene Onegin (Onegin), Rimsky-Korsakov’s The Tale of Tsar Saltan (the Messenger).

In 2011 he was admitted to the Galina Vishnevskaya Opera Centre, where he performs as Gryaznoy (Rimsky-Korsakov’s The Tsar's Bride), Shchelkalov (Mussorgsky's Boris Godunov), Onegin (Tchaikovsky's Eugene Onegin), Escamillo (Bizet's Carmen), Tonio (Leoncavallo’s Pagliacci), Rigoletto (Verdi’s Rigoletto).

He participated in the International Mstislav Rostropovich Festival in Moscow, Orenburg and Baku (2012-2015). Alexander also took part in the master-classes and a gala concert in the ‘Young Opera Singers Assemblies’ project framework together with the Placido Domingo Young Artist Program under the LA Opera and Mirella Freni Belcanto Academy; as well as in «The New Wanderers» festival of arts in Surgut and in a production of Verdi's ‘Rigoletto’ (as Marullo) at the Opera House in Limoges (France). He also sang in a concert featuring the soloists of the Opera Centre in Mexico, and III International Festival «Peregrinos Musicales» (Santiago de Compostela, Spain).

In 2014 he sang in a concert performance of Verdi's Simon Boccanegra (as Paolo) in the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall and in a concert performance of Prokofiev's Semyon Kotko at the Bolshoi. He took part at the XIII International Festival Harmonai Moraviae by the invitation by the leader of the Philharmonics Boguslav Martinu (Czech Republic, 2015), at the VII International Festival “Star Parade at the Opera” (Krasnoyarsk, 2016). He also performed the part of Simon Boccanegra at the Opera Theater of Craiova (Romania), part of Rigoletto during the I International Galina Vishnevskaya Opera Festival in Sochi and IV International Rostropovich Festival in Orenburg.

Winner of the 3rd prize at the VI Galina Vishnevskaya International Opera Singers Competition (Moscow, 2016).

He has toured in Austria, Germany, Spain, USA, Mexico, France as a member of the Opera Centre ensemble.

During 17/18 season was a soloist of Ural Opera and Ballet Theatre (Ekaterinburg, Russia) His repertoire in Uralopera includes Onegin (Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin), Tomsky (Tchaikovsky’s Queen of spades), Gryaznoy (Rimsky-Korsakov’s Tzar’s bride), Giorgio Germont (Verdi’s La Traviata), Rigoletto (Verdi’s Rigoletto), Escamillo (Bizet’s Carmen).

In 2018 he sang Lescaut (Puccini’s Manon Lescaut) at the Puccini Festival Torre del Lago, in 2019 sang Renato (Verdi’s Un ballo in maschera) at the Israeli Opera.
